How statutory redundancy pay is calculated

Statutory redundancy pay depends on age and complete years of service (capped at 20 years): half a week's pay per year under 22, one week's pay per year between 22 and 40, and one and a half weeks' pay per year at 41 or older. Weekly pay is capped at a statutory limit for the calculation.

The first £30,000 of a redundancy package is tax-free. Amounts above £30,000 — and any payment in lieu of notice or accrued holiday pay — are taxed as normal earnings.
